ESTEVAN — Paradigm Charter’s bus shuttle between Estevan and Regina is postponed until further notice, a company official says.
Jordan Kreutzer, Paradigm Charter’s programs manager, said that the company did not have enough ridership during the summer to continue its weekly shuttle between Regina and Estevan.
“We only averaged about four [riders], and we needed about eight or nine,” he said.
Paradigm Charter begun running the shuttle between Estevan and Regina in May, but failed to see the use they wanted. Kreutzer said they are speaking to the city to see if there are "avenues to get grants unlocked through the municipality. Some other stream of funding.”
Paradigm Charter buses offers charter services other than the shuttle between Estevan and Regina, but Kreutzer said the community support received was what encouraged Paradigm to push ahead with the shuttle.
Now, due to low ridership, Kreutzer said the charter is stopping the shuttle between Estevan and Regina.
“We’re going to postpone until the fall when the weather turns, to see if people are more interested then,” he said. “We're nowhere close to a date.”
Kreutzer said they are considering stakeholder involvement, as well as something like a survey to gauge interest in continuing, but everything is still being discussed. He appreciated the support from the community the first time the shuttle was suggested, and hopes that they have the same support in the fall.
