REGINA — The Regina Early Learning Centre (RELC) is looking to overhaul its board.
A special meeting for the centre has been posted on their website, with a resolution to consider removing the current directors from office in September.
SaskToday reached out to the centre for comment regarding the meeting, but received no response by the deadline.
The agenda does not specify the reasoning behind the special meeting, but noted it was “called at the request of the membership.”
Back in May, the centre faced financial hardships following an unspecified donor pulling out funding for the space.
This pull-back of money, coupled with rising fuel, insurance and liability costs, led the centre to pull its preschool program transportation services for the foreseeable future.
Despite cutting transportation services, RELC reassured families that its location at Fifth Avenue, Kids First program and all outreach programs are still operating normally.
Part of the special meeting has included appointing new members to the board.
In the coming weeks, the RELC plans to release details on the eligibility criteria for board director positions and how to apply for consideration for a board appointment.
