REGINA — A 34-year-old Regina man is facing multiple charges following a high-speed pursuit that started in the city early Monday morning and extended to the Trans-Canada Highway.
The suspect appeared in Regina court Monday morning after his arrest in connection with the incident that involved the. Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit and assistance from the Moose Jaw Police Service.
At approximately 1 a.m. on July 27, members of the Regina Police Service attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Robinson Street. The driver failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.
The Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit monitored the vehicle as it travelled through Regina and eastbound on Highway 1 toward Moose Jaw at excessive speeds. Members of the Moose Jaw Police Service assisted by attempting to deploy a tire deflation device, but the driver turned around before reaching the device and returned toward Regina.
As the vehicle re-entered the city, Regina Police Service officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle continued for a short distance before slowing and coming to a stop, at which point officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop. The male driver was arrested without incident.
Tyler Lavallee has been charged with dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, and being unlawfully at large.
