REGINA — In 2025, Saskatchewan RCMP charged more than 375 people for trafficking drugs across the province.
“Illegal drugs pose a serious threat to the wellbeing of communities. Targeting the individuals responsible for trafficking them is our ultimate goal,” says S/Sgt. Éric Desfossés, north region manager of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT).
“Combining frontline policing with specialized enforcement is a co-ordinated effort that disrupts drug trafficking networks and protects vulnerable populations.”
Frontline officers at Saskatchewan RCMP detachments across the province work hard to keep dangerous drugs out of the communities they work in, according to an RCMP press release.
For instance, on Dec. 31, 2025, Pelican Narrows RCMP executed a search warrant and seized more than a kilogram of methamphetamine from a residence. This prevented thousands of doses of methamphetamine from circulating in the community.
Every day, Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services officers are patrolling roads across the province. They are looking for unsafe driving behaviour, but also playing a pivotal role in disrupting the transport of illegal goods through and into the province. For instance, in October, a Roving Traffic Unit officer stopped a vehicle near Kindersley. As a result of the investigation, with help of police dog Salt, 19 kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of methamphetamine were located hidden in the vehicle.
Supporting every officer in communities and on the roads in Saskatchewan are specialized investigators, including Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT).
Working with frontline officers, SERT leads long-term, complex investigations that target the individuals who bring illicit substances into communities. Plain clothes and uniformed officers conduct covert surveillance and high-visibility enforcement that tackles drugs, gangs, and guns.
In 2025, their efforts led to the seizure of approximately 60 kilograms of methamphetamine, 14 kilograms of cocaine, 357 grams of fentanyl, three kilograms of other drugs, 70 pharmaceutical-style tablets and over 120 firearms. Read more here.
“As the provincial police service, we are using intelligence-led approaches to disrupt drug trafficking whether it’s occurring in a small remote town, or a bigger city,” says S/Sgt. Desfossés. “Altogether, Saskatchewan RCMP officers charged 378 people with 543 drug trafficking-related offences in 2025.”
