PRINCE ALBERT — Update 2: The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has laid charges against two individuals in connection
with the homicide of 27-year-old Daina Gauthier.
Following their arrests on July 30, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female have each been charged with second-degree murder.
Both youths have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to make their first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on August. 4.
Police say there are no outstanding persons of interest in relation to this investigation, and no additional charges are anticipated.
Update 1: The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is investigating the death of 27-year-old Daina Gauthier as a homicide after an autopsy was completed on July 30.
At approximately 1:55 a.m. on July 30, 2026, police were dispatched to a report of a stabbing in the unit block of 14th Street East. Officers arrived on scene and located Daina Gauthier with serious injuries and began to render first aid before Parkland Ambulance arrived on scene. Parkland Ambulance transported Gauthier to hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate with support from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
One 16-year-old male and one 15-year-old female have been arrested in relation to this incident.
Police presence at the location has been lifted and members of the public can now access the area.
