EDMONTON – Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Sam Emilus didn’t play in Saturday’s rematch against the Edmonton Elks because of a foot injury.
The team’s third most productive pass catcher didn’t practice Tuesday or Wednesday but took part as a full participant in Thursday’s on-field session before the Riders flew to Edmonton on Friday.
Riders coach Corey Mace didn’t think the injury would keep Emilus out of game when asked by reporters in Regina earlier in the week.
“We just thought maybe it’d be smart to give it another week here,” Mace said. “But he was close.”
With Emilus out of the lineup, Dhel Duncan-Busby moved to starting slotback and Daniel Wiebe started at wide receiver.
Emilus has 448 receiving yards and three touchdowns this season.
