Todd Lewis, a farmer, Senator, and a well-known and respected advocate of the agriculture industry, has died.
It said the following: “It is with immense sadness that I inform you that the Honourable Todd Lewis has passed away.
“The passing of Senator Lewis marks the loss of a steadfast champion for Saskatchewan’s agricultural sector and a pillar of the community who leaves behind a legacy shaped by four generations of farming. Throughout his more than four-decade career on the land, Senator Lewis emerged as a leading advocate for farmers’ interests, serving five years as president of the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan and as a leading member of many other community organizations. His devotion to public service led him to serve more than twenty years as a municipal councillor.
Further details concerning a funeral or memorial service will be communicated as soon as they are available.

Liberal MP for Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River and Secretary of State for Rural Development Buckley Belanger wrote about Lewis’ death Saturday afternoon on his Facebook page.
“I was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Senator Todd Lewis today.
Senator Lewis was a tireless champion for Saskatchewan’s farmers and rural communities. A fourth-generation farmer himself, he brought a practical perspective to Parliament and served with both a deep humility and a profound commitment to the people of Saskatchewan.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.” said Belanger.
Prior to his appointment to the Senate in February 2025, Lewis served at the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA), initially as a Second Vice-President before moving to First-Vice President.
Lewis also served in various roles with the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) as a councilor, before joining the Board of Directors in 2009 and was elected President of APAS in 2016.
In a news release from February 11, 2025 about Lewis’ appointment to the upper chamber, President of CFA Keith Currie described Lewis as a “tireless champion for Canadian farmers, bringing their concerns to the forefront of policy discussions.”
Lewis farmed near Gray, Saskatchewan, located 39 kilometres south of Regina. He was 65.
