REGINA — Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have fallen 1.5 cents per litre in the past week to 171.25 centre per litre as of Aug. 2, according to GasBuddy's survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina.
Meanwhile, the national average has fallen 3.2 cents per litre in the last week to 175.40, according to GasBuddy's national website.
Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, GasBuddy said prices Aug. 2 were 33.9 cents per litre higher than the same day one year ago and are 12.8 cents per litre higher than a month earlier. The national average has increased 13.9 cents per litre during the last month and stands 38.3 cents per litre higher than Aug. 2, 2025.
According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on Aug. 3 in Regina have ranged widely over the last five years, with a peak of $164.17 cents per litre in 2024 and a low of 130.77 in 2021.
In Saskatoon, GasBuddy reports the average was 172.26 cents per litre, down 3.6 from the previous week of 175.89; Winnipeg was at 178.32 cents per litre, up from the 171.73 the week before, and the Saskatchewan average was 172.99 cents per litre, down 0.3 cents per lite from 173.26 the previous week.
"Average gasoline prices dipped across much of Canada last week, with more provinces seeing declines than increases, offering motorists a brief reprieve amid turbulent global energy markets," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
"However, the relief may be short-lived. Even as oil prices ease on optimism surrounding a potential U.S.-Iran deal, continued Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure are driving refined product prices higher as output plummets, keeping underlying upward pressure on fuel costs. Canadians should keep a close eye on developments both in the Middle East and in Ukraine, as either front could quickly shift the outlook at the pump."
