The Flin Flon Bombers are losing one of the most successful coaches in franchise and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League history.
The Bombers announced Tuesday that head coach and general manager Mike Reagan is leaving the organization to join the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League as an assistant coach.
Reagan leaves Flin Flon after building an impressive résumé during his time with the Maroon and White.
He finished with a coaching record of 606 wins, 334 losses and 88 ties, making him one of the winningest coaches in SJHL history. He was named the CJHL and SJHL Coach of the Year in 2024 and will be inducted into the SJHL Hall of Fame this Fall.
Most recently, Reagan led the Bombers to their first SJHL championship in 33 years.
The 2026 title capped off a successful run with Flin Flon that also included six division championships, six trips to the league final and a perfect record of never missing the playoffs.
Reagan was also heavily involved in player development, helping more than 40 players move on to NCAA Division One programs and more than 30 others advance to U Sports.
Bombers president Tim Babcock says while the organization will certainly miss Reagan, his new opportunity is something the club is proud to see him earn.
“This is an exciting day for our organization,” Babcock said. “For Mike to have the opportunity to go to one of the top franchises in the Western League, it speaks to his resiliency and dedication to the sport of hockey.”
Babcock also believes Reagan leaves the Bombers in a good position for the future.
“He leaves our organization in a great position to continue to be successful in the future, and we wish him all the best wherever his path takes him.”
Reagan's impact also extended beyond the team's success on the ice.
He also had success on the international stage, winning a gold medal with Canada West in 2017 and a bronze medal in 2024.
