SASKATOON — Two women are facing several charges after police say a theft that led to an evade police incident.
On Aug. 1, at around 9:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North for a report of a woman who had stolen from a business. Caller information said the woman was in a vehicle in the parking lot.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle as it was beginning to leave. Officers activated their emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, however, the driver didn’t stop. The suspect vehicle then hit a vehicle before fleeing at a high rate of speed southbound on Preston Avenue. Shortly after, officers disengaged before locating the suspect vehicle unoccupied and left running. Police located and arrested two suspects shortly after. It was also learned that the vehicle had been reported as stolen.
As a result, a 30-year-old woman and a 38-year-old woman have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and theft. The 30-year-old has been additionally charged with dangerous driving, evading police and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
