ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) is asking for the public's help after it received a complaint of several gunshots and sirens near Kohaly Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 4.
According to the daily report, members contacted multiple homeowners in the area who were unable to confirm hearing the noises. Extensive foot patrols in the surrounding area were conducted, the EPS said. No evidence of firearms activity or fireworks were located by members. Anyone with information is asked to contact the EPS at 306-634-4767.
In other recent police news, the EPS received a report of a break and enter to a storage container in the east industrial area. The EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
Police received a telephone complaint of criminal harassment happening over the last several weeks. The EPS said additional follow-up is to be completed and a statement from the victim is to be obtained.
A bicycle was reported stolen from an apartment complex in the Trojan area. The matter remains under investigation, and the EPS said the bike might have been picked up as abandoned property.
A report of a possible fire at a residence in the Pleasantdale area was investigated during night shift. The EPS said it was determined that the homeowner had burned food on the stove and subsequently opened several windows to air out the space. No further involvement from emergency services was required.
The EPS received a report of someone yelling “help me” in the valley behind Mayfair Bay. According to the EPS, members responded to the area immediately following the complaint and conducted vehicle and foot patrols in the area, but were unable to locate anyone in need of assistance.
Multiple compliance checks were conducted on individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. All those checked were found to be in compliance with their respective conditions.
A complaint from Aug. 2 of an individual entering a residence and harassing a former partner was concluded following the arrest of the suspect in the investigation. The 39-year-old Estevan man was subsequently charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house and criminal harassment, and was released on conditions. He is to make an appearance in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date to speak to the charges.
