SWIFT CURRENT – Two people have been charged after methamphetamine was seized at a residence in Swift Current.
On Aug. 11, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Swift Current General Investigation Section (GIS) executed a search warrant at a residence on 11 Avenue Southeast in Swift Current as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
During a search of the residence, officers located and seized approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Two individuals were arrested at the residence.
Subsequently, a third suspect, who police observed driving while prohibited earlier that same day, was located in an alley near 2 Avenue Southeast and Central Avenue Southeast in Swift Current. As a result of investigation, the suspect, along with two additional individuals, were arrested in the alley.
During the arrests, officers also seized knives that some of the individuals had in their possession.
A 26-year-old suspect and a 32-year-old suspect, both from Swift Current, are each charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine; and
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The 26-year-old suspect is additionally charged with one count, operation while prohibited.
The other three individuals who were arrested were later released from police custody without charges.
Both accused appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Aug. 12.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services, Saskatchewan Trafficking and Response Team, and Critical Incident Response Team assisted in this investigation.
