SANDY BAY — Update, Aug. 17: Further investigation has determined an altercation occurred between the victim and multiple individuals at the residence in the early morning hours of Aug. 16.
The victim was injured and was later declared dead.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Silvino Grenier from Sandy Bay. His family has been notified, and victim services have been made available to them.

Investigators are asking Sandy Bay residents to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras for video recorded between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Aug. 16 and report any suspicious activity to police.
Anyone with information about this incident, the individuals or vehicle involved is asked to report it to police by calling 310-RCMP (7267). Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
There will be an increased police presence in the Sandy Bay area for an undetermined amount of time.
Updates will be provided when available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, police say they will notify the public.
Original post, Aug. 16: The RCMP is investigating the suspicious death of a man in Sandy Bay.
According to a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, on Aug. 16 at approximately 4:35 a.m., the Sandy Bay detachment received a report of an injured man at a residence in the community.
The RCMP said officers immediately responded and located the man, who was declared dead at the scene by medical professionals.
The man's death is considered suspicious, the RCMP said. As a result, the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) has taken carriage of the investigation.
An investigation has determined a dark-coloured blue or black van or SUV may be connected to the investigation, the RCMP said. The vehicle might a dent on its driver's-side back tire rim.
Anyone with information about a vehicle matching this description, including its presence in the Sandy Bay community the morning of Aug. 16, is asked report it to police immediately. The van/SUV should not be approached, the RCMP said, as the occupant(s) may be armed and are considered dangerous.
