Winter is never dull in Regina and it’s bringing a new festival to the city.
On Cue Performance Hub presents the Winter Moon Festival, a mini arts festival to be held across three evenings toward the end of January and the beginning of February at three different venues in Regina.
In celebration of the winter moon, the festival days will consist of a wide variety of eclectic events that will all play to the theme of ‘Winter Under the Snow Moon’.
These events include a fashion show that will feature projections by local Indigenous landscape painter Harley Sinclair, live Broadway classics and jazz, contortion, film, spoken-word poetry, and Indigenous storytelling.
The vision and hope for this festival is to create a sense of community in Regina based around the performing arts and its power to bring people together.
It will give a platform to artists who don’t always fit into the narrow confines of traditional performing spaces, allowing them to express their unique talents to a wider audience.
Day one is Winter Moon Festival: Crescent. It’ll take place at the Local Market YQR on January 26 at 8 p.m. There will also be food provided from Meld Neighbourhood Eatery.
The following week on January 30 will be the Winter Moon Festival: Quarter at the Regina Public Library Film Theatre with food from The Hampton Hub. It’ll also begin at 8 p.m.
For the final day, Winter Moon Festival: Full, it’ll be held at the Saskatchewan Science Centre at 8 p.m. on February 4 with food from Skye Cafe & Bistro.
Admission to each festival day is free but payment will be required for the food.
