REGINA — Two male youths are charged following a firearms incident on a city transit bus.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 18, police received a report of three youths on a transit bus. One of them was observed waving a firearm around inside the bus.
A short time later, police arrived in the area of Park Street and Victoria Avenue where they located the three youths on the bus, ages 11, 14, and 15. All three were taken into custody.
During a search, subsequent to arrest, police located three, loaded homemade firearms, bear mace, and other live ammunition.
No one was injured. A 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, who can’t be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are jointly charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and three counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.
Both youths made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Youth Court Aug. 19.
