REGINA — SGI’s head office has reopened in Regina following a flooding incident.
In an email sent to SaskToday, the Crown corporation confirmed the public can access the downtown office.
“The issuing office at SGI’s head office is open and has resumed service to the public.”
The office closed on Friday after Regina Fire and Protective Services received a call around 6 a.m. about flooding from a lead spike.
It’s unclear exactly what caused the flooding or how much it will cost SGI.
“Damage assessments are still underway. It’s too early to estimate how much the damage will cost.”
SGI also confirmed no money will be required from the province to fund the costs.
Since its opening in 1979, SGI’s head office has never closed for a similar issue, the company confirmed.
As damage assessments and remediation work continue, SGI is arranging for employees to temporarily relocate to other SGI locations, while some staff are working remotely.
