The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be without Canadian receiver Samuel Emilus after placing him on the six-game injured list Tuesday.
Emilus was injured on the Riders' final offensive play in Sunday's 30-16 loss to the B.C. Lions. The 28-year-old receiver leaped in an attempt to make a catch from quarterback Trevor Harris on a third-and-12 play and was shaken up on the play.
The injury is another setback for Emilus, who had just returned to the lineup after missing three games with a foot injury. He caught seven passes for 66 yards in his return to action against the Lions.
Emilus has 38 receptions for 514 yards and five touchdowns through seven games this season.
The Montreal native played a key role in Saskatchewan's Grey Cup championship last season, catching 10 passes for 108 yards and earning Most Valuable Canadian honours. Emilus was also named an All-West Division receiver in 2024.
The Roughriders moved quickly to add depth to their receiving corps, signing American receiver Shemar Bridges on Monday.
Bridges, 28, was the East Division's Most Outstanding Rookie in 2024 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He missed the first half of this season with a hip injury before being released by Hamilton.
Bridges will be on the field Wednesday when the Riders return to practice for the first time since Sunday's loss in B.C.
Saskatchewan enters Saturday's home game against the Toronto Argonauts with a 6-4 record. Toronto is 5-5.
The Riders will look to rebound against the Argonauts after dropping their second game in a row in Vancouver.
