ESTEVAN, Sask. — Estevan Police Service (EPS) dealt with a number of calls including a theft and driving complaints recently.
On Aug. 21, police received a report of four youths dressed in black running near 1449 Nicholson Road at approximately 3 a.m. Members attended and searched the area but did not locate anyone matching the description.
Police also conducted checks on several youths who were subject to conditions. Charges are pending against two youths who were not home as required by their conditions.
Also on Aug. 21, police received a report of a man wearing a blue bandana who approached youth in the Walmart parking lot. The callers reported that the man reached into his clothing while walking toward them. The man then made a hand gesture resembling a firearm, after which the youth reported hearing a sound consistent with a firearm being racked. Police attended the area and searched for the man; however, he was not located.
Police received a report of an alarm at a local business. Members attended and determined it was a false alarm.
Police received a report of several bags abandoned at a local park. Members attended and seized the bags. They were returned to EPS and are being held for collection by the owner.
Police received a report of a possible assault at a local residence. Members attended and separated all parties for the night.
In another incident, police received a report of a man driving erratically at a local trailer park. The driver had left prior to members’ arrival. The matter remains under investigation.
On Aug. 22, police responded to a report of two young children driving mini cars on a street in the south part of the city. Members attended and spoke with the children’s parent, who was supervising them at the time.
Police received a report of a break and enter at an abandoned residence. Members attended and cleared the residence. A statement is to be obtained, and the matter remains under investigation.
In another incident, police received a report of an unwanted man at the exhibition grounds. Members located the man a short time later and warned him not to return to the grounds.
Police received a report of a woman threatening a man by a text message. A statement is to be obtained.
Also on Aug. 22, police received a report of a dog left in a vehicle at a local business. The owner was leaving when members arrived, and the dog did not appear to be in distress.
On Aug. 25, police received a report of theft of a single axle Ken-worth gravel truck. The cab is white and the box is blue, licence 226 IZN. Police ask the public to keep a lookout for it and if spotted report it to the police.
Also on Aug. 25, police completed a welfare check on a woman that had missed appointments and not been communicating with her family. Police located her and she committed to reaching out to those worried about her.
Police were called to the Leisure Centre to a report of man sleeping in there. Members attended and sent him on his way.
Police arrested a 50-year-old Bienfait woman for impaired driving. She was charged, processed and released for a later court date.
Police attended to a disturbance in the south end. Police were able to mediate a resolution for the evening.
Police attended to a motor vehicle accident where a commercial tractor and trailer unit struck the crossing arms at the bypass on 39 Highway west. No injuries were reported. There was only property damage.
Also on Aug. 25, police attended to a report of a lost two-year-old child. A citizen located the young child and turned the child over to the police. Police were able to determine who the young child belonged to and return the child to mom.
