NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. — A man has been charged after he allegedly struck multiple vehicles when fleeing from police during a robbery investigation.
On Aug. 26 at approximately 10:10 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a robbery outside a business on Railway Avenue East in North Battleford.
The investigation determined a man threatened a victim with a weapon and attempted to rob them. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
The investigation determined the suspect’s vehicle had been stolen in North Battleford earlier that evening. A short time later, officers located the suspect outside a residence in the stolen vehicle.
Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The stolen vehicle did not stop and fled from police. While fleeing, the suspect hit multiple parked vehicles before abandoning the stolen vehicle and running. Police located and arrested the suspect outside a residential property.
No occupants were inside the parked vehicles when they were struck by the suspect's vehicle.
As a result of continued investigation, a 32-year-old man, from North Battleford, has been charged with:
• one count, robbery with offensive weapon;
• one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
• one count, resist peace officer;
• one count, disguised with intent to commit offence;
• one count, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose;
• one count, failure to stop after accident;
• one count, common nuisance – endanger life;
• one count, assault with a weapon;
• one count, flight from peace officer;
• one count, fail to comply with release order condition; and
• one count, dangerous operation of motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 28.
