REGINA, Sask. — A 40-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he pointed a firearm at a group of workers doing roof construction in a Glen Elm Park neighbourhood, prompting a response from the Regina Police Service Tactical Support Team.
Police were called to a business in the 1900 block of Rupert Street at approximately 2 p.m. on Aug. 28 after receiving reports of a disturbance. Officers learned that a male and female in a hotel suite were yelling from an open window at workers on a roof across the alley. During the altercation, the male suspect was seen pointing a firearm at the group.
Officers surrounded the suite and made contact with the occupants.
A short time later, a female exited the room without incident. She was released with no charges. Approximately 25 minutes later, the male suspect exited the room and was taken into custody without further incident. Following the arrest, officers searched the room and located a machete and an airsoft rifle.
The man was charged with assault with a weapon, using an imitation firearm during an indictable offence, and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
He appeared in Regina Provincial court on Aug. 31.
