A variety of topics will be discussed Monday at Regina City Council.
Councillors are expected to review and discuss the proposed RPS budget, with an increase of about $3,125,000, or about 3.79 percent over 2019.
The new money is allocated towards staffing four front line police officers and six civilian positions. The civilian positions include two communication centre dispatchers, a communications strategist, intelligence analyst, psychologist and digital media assistant.
Other topics being discussed include adding more civilian members to the Board of Police Commissioners and funding an off leash dog park.
Mayor Michael Fougere is also putting forward the motion to look at accelerating Regina’s lead pipe replacement plan.
Right now, 95 percent of city-owned water connections are lead-free, leaving about 3,600 connections to be replaced. Fougere wants to speed up the program and have all the connections replaced by 2025, 10 years faster than the current plan calls for.
The meeting gets underway at 5:30pm.
