The sports world suffered an unprecedented heartbreak during the difficult summer of the global pandemic. In August of 2020, the Canadian Football League officially cancelled its entire season.
The painful decision came after the league failed to secure a federal government loan to operate without any fans in the stands.
The cancellation was a devastating cultural blow to the province. It marked the very first time in over 100 years that the beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders did not take the field for a football season… not even for the Labour Day Classic.
