REGINA, Sask. — Gasoline prices in Regina have risen 2.2 cents a litre over the past week, averaging 156.7 cents a litre Monday, according to GasBuddy.
The price-tracking website based its Regina average on a daily survey of 82 gas stations in the city.
The increase comes as the national average fell 0.6 cents a litre over the past week to 175.8 cents a litre.
Despite the recent increase, Regina gasoline prices remain 5.8 cents a litre lower than a month ago. However, prices are 15.5 cents a litre higher than on the same day last year.
Nationally, the average price has increased 9.5 cents a litre over the past month and is 34 cents a litre higher than a year ago.
GasBuddy historical data shows Regina gasoline prices have varied widely on Sept. 8 over the past five years.
The average was 141.2 cents a litre in 2025, 147.7 cents in 2024, 162.7 cents in 2023, 154.6 cents in 2022 and 130.7 cents in 2021.
Gas prices have also increased in some nearby markets.
Saskatoon was averaging 155.7 cents a litre, up 2.3 cents from 153.4 cents a week earlier.
The Saskatchewan average stood at 159.7 cents a litre, virtually unchanged from 159.6 cents the previous week.
GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan said fuel prices increased across much of the country over the past week, with diesel reaching a record high.
"Average gasoline and diesel prices rose across most of Canada over the last week, with diesel setting a new all-time record high of 238.2 cents per litre, surpassing the previous record of 227.5 cents per litre set in April," De Haan said.
"The surge reflects the same forces battering fuel markets globally— continued Ukrainian attacks on Russian refining infrastructure are knocking capacity offline and tightening the global supply of refined products, with diesel feeling the brunt of that pressure. Until the refining supply picture meaningfully improves, Canadian diesel prices face continued upward pressure, while gasoline may see some modest seasonal relief in the weeks ahead."
