CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 40 calls from Sept. 3 to Sept. 10, some of which included:
- three 911 Act calls,
- one animal call,
- one abandoned vehicle,
- three assaults,
- one break and enter,
- one disturbing the peace,
- one failure to comply with order,
- one flight from police,
- one fraud, o
- ne harassing communications,
- three mischiefs,
- two municipal bylaws,
- one operation while impaired,
- one resisting arrest,
- three thefts under $5,000,
- one traffic collision,
- 13 traffic offenses, and
- one wellbeing check.
Injured man, possible assault
On Sept. 10, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report that a man was injured and required medical attention in Canora. Police investigated and learned the man had been pushed 12 hours prior causing the injuries. Investigation is ongoing
Work site mischief
The Canora RCMP investigated a report on Sept. 9 of mischief to a work site in Canora. Trusses were reported to have been tampered with which caused damaged to the trusses during a storm. Investigation is ongoing.
Flight from police ends in arrest
The Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report of sounds of breaking glass and shouting outside a residence in Mikado on Sept. 5. Police located a suspect vehicle driving around Mikado. The vehicle failed to stop for police, and it fled into a field. Police followed the car and observed a male youth exit the driver’s door and flee into the bushes. Police located and arrested the youth. The youth was charged with flight from police and theft under $5,000.
Sturgis mail break-in
On Sept. 4, the Sturgis Post Office reported mailboxes were broken into. Investigation is ongoing.
Intoxication leads to assault
The Canora RCMP investigated an assault on Sept. 3. The caller reported an intoxicated man kicked, grabbed, and prevented them from leaving a residence. Investigation is ongoing.
Resisting arrest
The Canora RCMP attempted to affect an arrest on a man for an outstanding warrant of arrest outside the court room at Canora Provincial Court on Sept. 3. The man became agitated and resisted arrest. A 50-year-old man from Stenen was charged with resisting arrest and was held in custody.
