SUCKER RIVER, Sask. – Update, Sept. 11: As a result of the continued investigation, on Sept. 9, La Ronge RCMP arrested a man in the La Ronge area.
A 34-year-old man, from the La Ronge area, is charged with:
- one count, flight from peace officer;
- one count, carrying a concealed weapon;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- one count, pointing a firearm;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer.
The two suspects appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept.10.
Original post, Sept. 8: La Ronge RCMP are investigating a report of firearm discharge in Sucker River.
La Ronge RCMP are working to locate a suspect in relation to a firearm incident in Sucker River.
On Sept. 7 at approximately 6:20 p.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge in Sucker River.
It was reported to police that a firearm was discharged from a car in the direction of a second vehicle. The occupants inside the second vehicle were not physically injured.
Later that same evening, La Ronge RCMP located a car matching the suspect vehicle’s description in Sucker River. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The car did not stop for police. It fled heading north on Highway 102.
For safety reasons, officers set up a tire deflation device which the suspect’s car ran over, deflating its tires. The car came to a stop. A male and female exited the car and ran into a treed area, north of Sucker River.
La Ronge RCMP began searching the area for the suspects with the assistance of a remotely piloted aircraft system. A woman was located and arrested. At this time, the male has not been located.
During a subsequent search of the suspect’s car, officers located and seized a firearm.
A 36-year-old woman, from the La Ronge area, is charged with:
- one count, flight from peace officer;
- one count, carrying a concealed weapon;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- one count, pointing a firearm; and
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
She is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept. 10.
La Ronge RCMP continue to investigate, which includes working to identify and locate the outstanding male suspect.

La Ronge RCMP have determined there is no imminent risk to public safety in relation to this incident. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, police will notify the public.
