ROSTHERN, CREIGHTON, Sask. — Rosthern and Creighton RCMP are investigating two fatal collisions, one involving a pedestrian.
On Sept. 4 at approximately 11:10 p.m., Creighton RCMP received a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Main Street in Creighton.
Officers responded along with EMS. The pedestrian was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious in nature. He was later declared dead. He has been identified as a 26-year-old man, from Flin Flon. His family has been notified.
The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene of the collision. The driver did not report physical injuries to police.
Creighton RCMP continue to investigate.
In a separate incident, on Sept. 12 at approximately 10:10 p.m., Rosthern RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision near Hepburn. The collision occurred on Highway 12, north of the Highway 312 intersection.
The investigation determined a truck and SUV collided. The driver of the SUV was declared dead by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as a 16-year-old female from Shellbrook. Her family has been notified.
A passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature. He was also arrested by Rosthern RCMP.
As a result of investigation, a 22-year-old Riley Farthing, from Blaine Lake, is charged with one count, operation while impaired of motor vehicle causing death,
Farthing appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Sept. 14.
Rosthern RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
