REGINA, Sask. — The Foo Fighters’ long-awaited return to Saskatchewan is almost upon us.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are scheduled to take the stage at Mosaic Stadium around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in their first visit to Regina, after playing three previous concerts in Saskatoon from 1998-2008 according to the setlist.fm.
Tuesday’s show also comes almost four years to the day after the band was last scheduled to play here.
That gig, slated for Sept. 23, 2022, was one of several that were cancelled after drummer Taylor Hawkins died that March prior to a concert in Bogota, Colombia.
Here are a few other things to know ahead of Tuesday’s show, which is expected to attract over 30,000 fans to the venue.
What time is the show?
The city of Regina says stadium doors open at 4 p.m. with the first band scheduled to take the stage at 5:30.
Who are the Foo Fighters?
Foo Fighters were formed in 1994 by Dave Grohl, who had previously played drums for Nirvana.
Grohl, who now plays guitar and provides lead vocals for Foo Fighters, recorded most of the band’s 1995 self-titled debut album himself and now fronts a band that includes fellow guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel, keyboardist Rami Jaffee and drummer Ilan Rubin.
Smear previously played with Grohl in Nirvana while Rubin joined the band in the summer of 2025, replacing Josh Freese behind the kit.
Over the last three decades the band has become widely known for a long string of massive rock radio hits including Everlong, Monkey Wrench, My Hero, Learn to Fly, Times Like These, All My Life, Best of You, The Pretender, Rope and Walk.
More recent successes include tracks like Something from Nothing, Run, The Sky is A Neighbourhood, Waiting on a War, Making a Fire, Rescued, Under You and Your Favorite Toy.
Opening up
Foo Fighters will be supported by rockers Queens of the Stone Age at 6.30 p.m. and punk band Mannequin Pussy.
Queens of the Stone Age are fronted by singer Josh Homme, who previously played with Grohl in side project Them Crooked Vultures.
Homme also plays drums in the rock band Eagles of Death Metal.
Queens of the Stone Age was formed in 1996 and found radio success in the 2000s with songs like No One Knows, Go With the Flow and Make It Wit Chu.
The setlist
No spoilers here, but barring unforeseen circumstances it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Grohl and Co. play 25 songs or more.
Did you know?
Grohl himself has performed in Regina before, playing drums for Virginia-based punk band Scream at a May 1989 club show that aired on Cable Regina.
Foo Fighters will also be the first major stadium concert at the home of the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders since Garth Brooks in 2019.
Previous concerts at Mosaic Stadium have also included headlining performances by the Eagles, Guns N Roses, Bryan Adams, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, AC/DC and the Rolling Stones.
How to get there
With paid on-site parking now sold out, the City of Regina is recommending the use of ride-share or taxi services, a free bike valet near the stadium, off-site parking, or the venue’s designated drop-off and pick-up location at the Co-operators Centre Loop.
The city says the loop will be accessible from either Princess Street or the International Trade Centre, with accessible drop-off available in the parking loop in front of Gate 2.
No dedicated public transit options will be available for concertgoers but regular bus routes 1, 10 and 12 all have stops near the stadium. The last buses are scheduled to leave these stops around midnight.
The city has also shared traffic restrictions that will be in effect Tuesday. Those include the closure from 1 p.m.-midnight of Elphinstone Street from Dewdney Avenue to Saskatchewan Drive, and 9th Avenue from McTavish Street to Elphinstone Street.
As well, Saskatchewan Drive will be closed 10 p.m.-midnight from Argyle Street to Montague Street.
Other street closures include Parliament Avenue from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. as the city completes water connection repairs, and Halifax Street from 13th Avenue to Victoria Avenue for re-paving.
