ESTEVAN, Sask. — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) Drug Intelligence Unit (DIU), in conjunction with members from the EPS Patrol Division, conducted an investigation into drug trafficking that resulted in charges against an Estevan man.
According to a news release from the EPS, on Sept. 8, EPS officers arrested 36-year old Cory Lewis without incident and he was subsequently charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
During the investigation, a search warrant authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act was executed at an apartment complex on Fourth Avenue in Estevan, the EPS said.
Items seized during the investigation included cocaine, methamphetamine, a substance suspected to be fentanyl, and Canadian currency.
Lewis was remanded in custody and made a first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on Sept. 14. He remains in custody and is scheduled to be back in court Sept. 16 in Carlyle.
