REGINA, Sask. — Saskatchewan has maintained the highest credit rating among the provinces when the ratings from all three major agencies are considered, according to Sask. Finance.
Moody's Investors Service, Morningstar DBRS (MDBRS) and S&P Global recently affirmed their credit ratings for Saskatchewan, with MDBRS maintaining its AA (low) rating, Moody's maintaining its Aa1 rating and S&P affirming its AA rating. All three agencies assigned a stable outlook.
"Saskatchewan demonstrates what we view as strong financial management that supports its creditworthiness," S&P Global stated in its report.
"In addition to public-sector investment, several large-scale projects are advancing in the private sector, including in mining (potash, uranium, lithium), the agriculture value-added sector and manufacturing, which will support medium-term economic growth."
Saskatchewan also maintains the second-lowest net-debt-to-GDP ratio among the provinces, Sask. finance adds.
