BEARDY'S AND OKEMASIS CREE NATION, Sask. – Saskatchewan RCMP are continuing to investigate after a suspicious item was located on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation.
On Sept. 15 at approximately 8:15 p.m., Rosthern RCMP were notified of a suspected explosive device located at a business on Beardy's & Okemasis Cree Nation.
Rosthern RCMP began investigating and engaged the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) to assist. The business was evacuated and traffic was redirected away from the area. Nearby residents were also advised to evacuate.
The item was located and Saskatchewan RCMP’s EDU determined it did not consist of explosive materials.
Rosthern RCMP continue to investigate, including working to identify the potential suspect or suspects.
Anyone with information regarding the suspicious item or anyone potentially involved is asked to contact Rosthern RCMP.
In addition, Rosthern RCMP are requesting any dash cam or surveillance footage that may have captured suspicious activity in the Beardy's & Okemasis Cree Nation area on Sept. 15.
