REGINA, Sask. — Two people are facing robbery charges after an early-morning theft at a north side business turned violent early Thursday morning, say police.
At approximately 12:50 a.m. on Sept. 17, Regina police officers were dispatched to a business in the 4200 block of Dewdney Avenue following the report of a robbery.
Police received information that a male and female suspect were attempting to steal merchandise from a business. During the incident, the suspects assaulted a staff member. The male suspect fled the area on a bicycle, while the female suspect fled on foot
Officers responded and conducted a search of the surrounding area. A short time later, an officer located an abandoned bicycle nearby and subsequently located a male matching the description of the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident. At approximately 3:15 a.m., another officer had located the female suspect after she returned to the area of the business. She was also taken into custody without incident.
A 38-year-old man is charged with robbery, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with a probation order.
A 38-year-old woman is charged with robbery.
They both appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday.
