SASKATOON, Sask. — Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF) is partnering with Saskatchewan Polytechnic, to continue supporting pediatric and maternal research across the province.
JPCHF is investing $1.5 million in Sask. Polytech’s KINTECH Health Research Centre. The new applied research centre will use technologies, such as virtual reality, to support health and well-being for families in their home communities, building on established relationships and research in rural, remote and Indigenous communities. By connecting research, innovation and lived experience, the centre will use technology to design, test and evaluate innovative approaches to prevention, early intervention and continuity of care for children and families across Saskatchewan.
“Our Applied Research and Innovation team has been using virtual reality and other emerging technologies to deliver mental health and wellness resources in rural and remote Saskatchewan,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, Sask Polytech president and CEO.
“We are grateful to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation for this investment, which will help us continue this important work and support more Saskatchewan children and families. We’re excited about the applied research opportunities and real-world impact this funding creates.”
This partnership is a step in creating the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation Provincial Maternal and Pediatric Research Initiative that will advance the future of pediatric and maternal health in Saskatchewan.

Sask. Polytech is the second recipient of the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation Provincial Maternal and Pediatric Research Fund, the first being the Child Trauma Research Centre at the University of Regina in March of this year.
