Regina will be bringing together innovators and leaders in the Spring to discuss energy management and environmental sustainability.
The city will be hosting the Reimagine Conference 2020: Roadmap to Sustainable Cities, with keynote speakers and a dozen presentations on renewable energy resources, energy storage solutions and sustainable infrastructure.
Councillor Mike O’Donnell says the city will be using conference as a road map on how the Queen City can be 100 percent renewable by 2050. “We don’t want to do it on our own so we are going to invite cities from across Canada, and hopefully further, to come and join with us and share with us their ideas and what they have already done, but we also want to be aspirational for what we can do in the future.”
O’Donnell hopes there will be discussions on how the city can better operate core services. “For example we operate a landfill, but what if this was our last landfill. We operate public transit, look after water and waste water. Those are some of the topics as a corporation we want to make sure we deal with and deal with in a long-term manner so that we can obviously keep a safe and efficient city running, but also do it in a manner that is going to last forever.”
The conference will take place from May 20-21 at the Queensbury.
