REGINA, Sask. — Indigenous business leaders and industry representatives are invited to join the City of Regina at the second annual Indigenous Procurement Business Gathering on Sept. 21 at the Regina Performing Arts Centre.
“This is a fantastic way to bring all of these groups together to share information, make connections and explore opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses,” said Kim Krywulak, City of Regina corporate controller. “We’re committed to continuing our work toward reconciliation by supporting Indigenous business development, providing more opportunities to participate in the economy and building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.”
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the gathering will include presentations on current and upcoming procurement opportunities with the city, a detailed look at how the city procures goods and services and topical panel discussions featuring Indigenous business and industry leaders, a city press release explains.
Attendees will also be able to connect directly with city representatives and network with fellow industry leaders to explore potential partnerships.
The gathering supports the city’s Indigenous procurement policy, which was developed in collaboration with the Indigenous procurement advisory committee and approved by city council in February 2023. The policy aims for a target minimum 20 per cent of the total value of the city’s procurement contracts to be held by Indigenous vendors, the city says.
