The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the signing of six players on Sunday morning.
Joining the Green and White are:
- American defensive back Millard Bradford III
- American linebacker Ja’Kobe Clinton
- National linebacker Justin Herdman-Reed
- American running back Deon Jackson
- American quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger
- American defensive lineman Malakai Williams.
Bradford III (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) spent time with the New Orleans Saints after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He appeared in three games, recording three solo tackles. He later attended training camp with the Chicago Bears before participating in the Calgary Stampeders’ rookie camp.
The DeRidder, Louisiana native played five collegiate seasons at Texas Christian, appearing in 58 games with 27 starts. He recorded 231 tackles, 17 tackles for loss totaling 40 yards, one sack, four interceptions, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Two of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns.
As a junior, Bradford started 12 of 13 games, registering 54 tackles, four tackles for loss and one interception. During his senior season, he started six of 12 games and recorded 54 tackles (41 solo) and two interceptions. He earned Honourable Mention All-Big 12 honours in both 2022 and 2023.
Bradford initially signed with the Roughriders in July 2026 and spent a month on the practice roster.
Clinton (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) spent training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He had one sack, two defensive tackles and one special teams tackle in two pre-season games.
Clinton spent the previous two collegiate seasons at the University of West Florida. In 2025, he was recognized as the Gulf South Conference’s top defensive player and an American Football Coaches Association First-Team All-American after registering 78 defensive tackles (including a conference-best 19 for a loss), seven sacks, seven pass deflections, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
The Florida-born linebacker began his collegiate career at Southeastern University. As a sophomore at Southeastern, he had 50 tackles (eight for a loss), one interception (which he returned for a 19-yard touchdown), one sack, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Herdman-Reed (6-foot-0, 223 pounds) rejoins the Roughriders for his ninth CFL season and his fifth as a Roughrider (2021-2024, 2026). The Winnipeg native played the 2025 season with the Calgary Stampeders, appearing in nine games and making four tackles.
Herdman-Reed initially signed with the Riders in 2021 and was a reliable force on special teams, registering 41 special teams tackles and 10 defensive tackles over 53 games played in the Green and White.
Herman-Reed was selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the seventh round (54th overall) of the 2017 CFL Draft. During his time with the Argonauts, Herdman-Reed appeared in 30 games, recording 43 defensive tackles, 26 special teams tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. He later signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2020 before joining the Roughriders.
Herdman-Reed had an impressive collegiate career at Simon Fraser University, where he played five seasons for the Red Leafs. In 40 games, he amassed 220 tackles, 33 tackles for a loss, six quarterback sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries – one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Jackson (6-foot-0, 220 pounds) spent the previous two seasons (2025-26) with the DC Defenders of the United Football League. He played 20 games and earned 866 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, averaging five yards per carry. He added 245 yards and five touchdowns in four postseason games. In 2026, Jackson led the UFL with 449 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Prior to the UFL, the 27-year-old signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent and spent three years (2021-23) in Indy. In 2022, he made his first career start against the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording 121 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown. He appeared in 16 games that season, including two starts, finishing with 68 carries for 236 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown, along with 30 receptions for 209 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Jackson has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New York Jets and Detroit Lions.
The Atlanta product began his collegiate career at Duke, where he played from 2017-2020. He appeared in 48 games for the Blue Devils, recording 2,267 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns, averaging 47.2 rushing yards per game.
Marburger (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) joins the Roughriders after a standout 2025 season leading the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s offence. He completed 199 passes for 2,780 yards and 31 touchdowns. He added 308 yards rushing and another four TDs and was named the Southland Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and first-team All-Southland. He led the Southland Conference in nine statistical categories and ranked fourth in the FCS in passing efficiency (170.8), sixth in passing touchdowns (31) and ninth in passing yards per completion (13.97). 2025 was Texas Rio Grande Valley’s first season of Division I football.
The Texas native transferred to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley after four seasons (2021-24) with the University of Texas at San Antonio. He served primarily in a backup capacity, appearing in 18 games and completing 65 passes for 777 yards and seven touchdowns.
Williams (6-foot-5 252 pounds) attended rookie minicamp with the New Orleans Saints following the 2026 NFL Draft. He played his senior season at Boise State in 2025, recording 11 tackles (five solo), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble.
The Gilbert, Arizona native, began his collegiate career at the University of Idaho, where he played four seasons (2021-24). Over 36 games, including 22 starts, Williams registered 64 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, one pass deflection, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In 2024, he recorded a season-high seven tackles against Weber State, including two sacks. He served as a team captain for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons and was an All-Big Sky Honourable Mention in 2024.
