ONION LAKE, Sask. — Onion Lake RCMP have arrested a male who was wanted for being unlawfully at large, and for firearms-related offences.
On Sept. 11, Onion Lake RCMP received a report that a man had pointed a firearm at a victim at a home on Onion Lake Cree Nation. The police investigation determined the suspect also threatened the victim and broke a window at the residence. The victim didn’t report physical injuries to police.
Ryden Dillon-Giroux, 23, from Onion Lake was charged with:
– break and enter to commit an indictable offence;
– uttering threats;
– pointing a firearm;
-carrying a concealed weapon;
– possession of a firearm knowing it’s unauthorized;
– possession of a firearm while prohibited;
– possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
– mischief under $5,000.
Police say their continued investigation determined Ryden Dillon-Giroux had been released from a correctional facility on Sept. 10 and was subject to statutory release conditions. On Sept. 11, Correctional Service Canada issued a warrant for his apprehension.
Onion Lake RCMP worked to locate and arrest Ryden Dillon-Giroux.
On Sept. 20, Onion Lake RCMP were doing proactive patrols in the Onion Lake area. They conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a burnt-out headlight. Ryden Dillon-Giroux was a passenger in the vehicle and was arrested on the warrants.
Ryden Dillon-Giroux appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Sept. 21.
