REGINA, Sask. — Update: Regina police say their investigation into the discovery of, what appeared to be, bones has concluded after it was determined the items located are not bones, but rather, what appears to be, a calcified piece of metal.
An investigation involving the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service was launched this morning after a crew working in the area made the discovery. We thank the public and our investigative partners for their assistance in this matter.
Original story: Regina Police Service say they were called to the 1700 block of Elphinstone Street around 10 a.m. after, what appeared to be, bones were located by a crew working in the area.
The RPS Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit are on scene and an investigation is in its early stages.
It's not clear if they are human remains.
Work is being done to make this determination.
"As this is very early in the investigation, we have no further information to share at this time," RPS said in a media release.
