LLOYDMINSTER, Alta., Sask.— Update 2: Lloydminster RCMP and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit say because of the numerous tips that came in, Randy Lysohirka has been located and arrested without incident. He is being held and will appear before a justice of the peace, with a future court date to be determined.
“We want to once again thank the public for their assistance throughout this investigation” said Sgt. Thomas Weiers of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. “It is thanks to witnesses at the scene as well as tips from the public that we were able to identify, locate and arrest the suspect."
Saskatchewan RCMP say officers determined he was in a rural residence outside of Maidstone. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Maidstone Detachment and Lloydminster Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team formed an arrest plan, in consultation with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, Lloydminster RCMP and Alberta RCMP MCU.
Update: Alberta RCMP have identified the shooting victim as 22-year-old Lloydminster resident Nolan Whitstone.
Alberta RCMP say the suspect, who is still at large and believed to be in possession of the firearm, has been identified as 40-year-old Randy Lysohirka. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged him with second-degree. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Randy Lysohirka has a light complexion. He is about 5-foot-7 and 160 -pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Original story: A man is dead and a suspect remains at large following a shooting in Lloydminster on Monday.
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit has taken over the investigation. According to Lloydminster RCMP, officers were dispatched around 11:09 a.m. on Sept. 21 to reports of shots fired on 50 Avenue near 47 Street in Lloydminster.
Fire and EMS also arrived on scene and began life-saving measures on the victim, who was later declared deceased on scene. RCMP have confirmed that the suspect is still at large, but police believe it was a targeted incident.
