The Yorkton Terriers scored three times in the third period to pull away from the Kindersley Klippers 4-1 Friday night.
Jake Briltz led the way for Yorkton with a goal and an assist, while Austin Horbachewsky scored the eventual game-winner midway through the final period.
Kindersley opened the scoring just over four minutes into the game when Cobe Perlinger converted on the power play, but the Terriers answered later in the opening frame. Briltz scored his third of the season at 8:39.
The teams remained tied 1-1 through a scoreless second period before Yorkton took control in the third.
Horbachewsky put the Terriers ahead 8:49 into the period, scoring his third of the season and his second game-winning goal in just three games. Matthys Morrissette added an insurance marker at 12:57, with Colin Ruotsinoja picking up the assist.
DJ Brass then capped the scoring with his first SJHL goal at 15:44, assisted by Briltz.
Callum Creig turned aside 21 of 22 shots to earn the victory for Yorkton, which finished with a 33-22 advantage in shots.
The Melville Millionaires also picked up a one-goal victory, edging the Melfort Mustangs 2-1.
Jaden Kokosha scored the eventual game-winner at 17:39 of the opening period, while Wesley Olson also scored for the Millionaires.
Melfort opened the scoring when Tyson Janzen found the back of the net 10:20 into the game, but Melville responded just over a minute later.
That proved to be all the offence the Millionaires needed as neither team scored over the final two periods.
Noah Kraus was outstanding in the Melville crease, stopping 30 of 31 shots to earn the win. Melfort outshot the Millionaires 31-24, including a 17-4 advantage in the second period. The teams combined to go 0-for-10 on the power play.
The Flin Flon Bombers improved to 2-0 to start their 100th season with a 4-1 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves in their home opener.
Brock Inglis opened the scoring for La Ronge at 5:45, but Jack Martin scored twice to help turn the game around for the Bombers.
Jared Miskiw added a goal and an assist, while Finn Werner made 17 saves in the Flin Flon net. Riley Zezel stopped 33 shots for La Ronge.
The Humboldt Broncos erased a two-goal deficit in the third period before Cody Farrell scored the overtime winner in a 5-4 comeback victory over the Battlefords North Stars.
Humboldt trailed 4-2 with eight minutes remaining in regulation before rallying to force overtime. Farrell then completed the comeback with the overtime winner and continues to lead the early-season rookie scoring race.
In Weyburn, Jase McNichol scored twice and seven different Red Wings recorded multi-point games as Weyburn outlasted the Highway 39 rival Estevan Bruins 8-5.
Caleb Potter paced the Bruins with three assists, while Nate Stevens and Ethan Berard combined for 22 saves in the Weyburn net. Brady Carr stopped 33 shots for Estevan.
And in Warman, Ethan Dundas scored a breakaway goal with just over four minutes remaining to lift the Wolverines past the Nipawin Hawks 5-4.
Mason Karakochuk brought Nipawin to within one at the 2:46 mark of the third period, but Luke Brunen stopped 43 shots to help Warman hold on for its third straight win.
