REGINA, Sask. — Regina police announced charges Friday against five people, stemming from a weapons investigation earlier in the week.
RPS said members attended two homes Wednesday morning in the 1700-block of Montreal Street after receiving a complaint regarding unknown individuals in possession of firearms.
Seven people were arrested and five were charged after officers found a loaded, sawed-off shotgun, multiple shotgun rounds, a disassembled semi-automatic firearm and multiple disassembled firearm parts at one of the residences.
In all, police laid 22 charges against the individuals, who range in age from 16-31.
Those charges included 13 (under various sections of the Criminal Code) for illegal possession of a weapon, two for obstructing a peace officer, two for failing to comply with a disposition, and one each for failing to comply with a probation or release order, careless storage of a firearm, breaching a conditional sentence order, and armed robbery using a restricted or prohibited firearm.
All five of the accused made their first appearances on the charges Thursday at Regina Provincial Court.
