Saskatchewan’s economic growth track in 2027 will lead the nation.
As we move through Q4 of 2026, forecasts for what will happen next year are not only showing up more frequently their insight and accuracy is also growing.
Among those is the new outlook issued by the consulting firm Deloitte. It has Saskatchewan standing in second spot in terms of economic growth this year and leading the nation next year in a tie with Alberta as they expect Saskatchewan’s GDP to rise by 1.9 per cent in 2027. That will come on the heels of a 1.8 per cent growth track this year.
Last year saw a 2.2 per cent increase. We’re tracking behind that performance right now, but Saskatchewan remains a bit of a standout as we were fifth among the provinces last year. The others – Newfoundland, BC, Nova Scotia and PEI — have fallen back as the impact of American tariffs begins to bite.
Unlike the banks and other forecasters, Deloitte looks at provincial government actions in explaining its conclusions, pointing to apprenticeship seat funding and a lower small business tax rate.
