REGINA, Sask. — Regina police are investigating after a fire inspector determined a small fire inside a Winnipeg Street building Tuesday night was intentionally set.
Regina Fire & Protective Services responded to the 1200 block of Winnipeg Street at about 11:05 p.m. after a fire was reported inside the building.
According to the fire service, crews found a small fire burning in a metal bin and extinguished it without damage to the structure.
Crews also found no one at the property, and Regina Fire & Protective Services says no injuries were reported.
Regina Police Service officers were called to assist with traffic control around 11 p.m. and temporarily closed the block between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue.
Police say the fire was extinguished by about 11:45 p.m., with the roads reopening shortly afterward.
A fire inspector determined the fire was intentionally set, according to Regina Fire & Protective Services.
Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
