NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. — The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating after a man was injured during an arrest by Battlefords RCMP on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation on Tuesday.
On Oct. 6, around 1 p.m., Battlefords RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation. The vehicle failed to stop and pulled into the driveway of a residence. The police investigation determined the driver of the vehicle had a suspended licence and was on warrant status. He was arrested without incident.
There were two passengers in the vehicle, a woman and a man. The man didn’t comply with officers’ requests for him to exit the vehicle. Investigators removed him from the vehicle and arrested him.
Officers called EMS for further assessment of the male. The male was later released without charge.
The RCMP was later notified the man was required to receive further medical care due to an injury. Given the nature of the injury, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) was notified and will investigate the circumstances of police involvement leading to the man’s injury.
