The Melville Millionaires got some revenge on their Highway 10 rivals Saturday night, earning a 5-3 win over the Yorkton Terriers to extend their home winning streak to three games.
For the second straight night, the home team opened the scoring as Jaden Kokosha buried his second of the season just 3:14 into the first period to give Melville a 1-0 lead.
Yorkton answered just over three minutes later when Matthys Morrissette went bar-down for his sixth of the season to even things up.
The Terriers then grabbed their first lead of the night as Alex Morrison beat Noah Kraus on a wraparound for his sixth of the campaign and second goal in as many games.
Melville responded on the power play, with Cole Brown tying the game at two with 7:19 remaining in the opening frame.
The Mils took the lead back in the second period when Max Siebert’s wrist shot found the back of the net for his first SJHL goal, sending Melville into the third with a 3-2 advantage.
Yorkton pulled even just 1:46 into the final period as Peter Godley scored on the power play. But Melville had another quick answer, as Leo Jewitt’s point shot was tipped home by Grady Carmichael less than a minute later for his fourth of the season and the eventual game-winner.
Kokosha added an empty-net goal late to seal the 5-3 victory.
Noah Kraus made 36 saves to earn his fifth win of the season for Melville, while Callum Creig stopped 28 of 32 shots in the loss for Yorkton.
