REGINA, Sask. — A 33-year-old man faces charges after a stolen vehicle was spotted being driven at a high speed through Regina Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 18, officers located a vehicle in the area of 6th Avenue and Pasqua Street that had previously been reported stolen. The vehicle was being driven by an adult male at a high rate of speed, including into oncoming traffic. During the incident, the suspect vehicle collided with an uninvolved vehicle before continuing to flee.
The Tactical Support Team attempted to immobilize the vehicle, but those efforts were unsuccessful, and the suspect continued to evade police.
Officers were later able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop in the area of Broad Street and Victoria Avenue. Officers issued multiple commands for the driver to exit the vehicle, but he failed to comply. A Police Service Dog (PSD) was deployed but was unable to apprehend the suspect.
The suspect later exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident. He was treated for injuries consistent with a dog bite.
A 33-year-old man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, flight from police, and resisting arrest.
He will appear in a Regina court on Nov. 26.
