REGINA, Sask. — Loblaw Transport is looking to hire several Class 1 drivers in Regina, bringing its first local hiring fair to the Real Canadian Superstore on Prince of Wales Drive.
The two-day hiring fair began Thursday, Oct. 22, and concluded Friday, Oct. 23.
The company is looking to hire 10 drivers in Regina, with the possibility of hiring more in the new year.
Loblaw is seeking drivers with a Class 1 commercial licence to transport freight between Canada and the United States.
Loblaw recruiting manager Randi Falkenberg and talent acquisition specialist Naomi O’Rourke ran the event, which was held in Regina for the first time.
“There seems to be a little bit of a smaller market [for drivers] here in Regina, so we came out to try something a little different,” said Falkenberg.
Despite ongoing tariff tensions affecting goods crossing the Canada-U.S. border, Falkenberg said Loblaw has not experienced any issues with hiring drivers or crossing the border.
“The tariffs aren’t having any impact as far as hiring drivers go, and crossing the border – we haven’t had any issues with that.”
