Two members of the Regina Pats were recognized Monday with WHL awards for their recent excellence. Liam Pue was named the league's top rookie for the week, whereas goaltender Taylor Tabashniuk grabbed top goalie honours.
Pue recorded four goals, five points and a plus-4 rating as the Pats collected back-to-back wins this past week. The highlight was a hat trick and four-point performance against the Moose Jaw Warriors last Friday, which Regina won 6-2.
The 16-year-old forward, who's considered a top prospect for the 2028 NHL Draft, leads the Pats with 18 points – good for fourth in WHL scoring. He has points in 16 of 18 games this season.
Tabashniuk was between the pipes for both of those Pats wins. He posted a .949 save percentage over the two games, including collecting a shutout in a 6-0 decision over the Seattle Thunderbirds last Wednesday.
The 19-year-old netminder is 6-1-0-1 with a .919 save percentage, and one shutout this season.
