REGINA, Sask. — A new poll from the Angus Reid Institute gives Premier Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party a solid lead.
The new poll gives the Saskatchewan Party an 11-point lead over the NDP among decided and leaning voters, 51 to 40 per cent. Eight per cent support other parties, with one per cent supporting the Green Party. Among all respondents, 16 per cent are undecided.
Angus Reid reports Moe has approval from 49 per cent of Saskatchewan residents, with the strongest support coming from outside Regina and Saskatoon, where 61 per cent approve of his performance.
NDP leader Carla Beck receives favourable views from 33 per cent, with her strongest ratings coming from the major cities.
This is the second poll in a week to give the Saskatchewan Party a lead, after Abacus Data reported a two-point lead for the party last week. But this time, the showing for Moe and the Saskatchewan Party is more in line with the results of the 2024 election, in which they won a majority government with 34 seats to 27 for the NDP.
The Angus Reid Institute states that the findings “suggest little change in the province's overall political alignment since the last election, even as the government faces ongoing scrutiny over affordability, health care and public finances.”
Despite the lead for the government, the survey does point to some underlying concerns.
Angus Reid reports 70 per cent of Saskatchewan residents identify the cost of living as a top issue, while 63 per cent point to health care.
The institute also reports 50 per cent say the government is not focused on the issues most important to them, compared to 37 per cent who believe it is.
This feeling is most pronounced in Saskatoon, with Angus Reid reporting that 60 per cent say the government is not sufficiently focused on their concerns.
The online survey of a randomized sample of 505 Saskatchewan adults was conducted Oct. 22 to 26. The vote intention results among decided and leaning voters are based on 439 respondents.
