A 16-year-old boy in Saskatoon has been arrested in relation to a Canada Border Services Agency investigation, along with the Saskatoon Police Service. Earlier this month, border services officers in the Vancouver International Mail Centre intercepted a suspicious package on its way to Saskatoon.
The CBSA says inside were two gun barrels and two overcapacity 9mm magazines, which are prohibited in Canada. The items were packaged as a commonly used construction tool, along with other firearm parts, and they were shipped from the United States. The package was seized and Saskatoon Police were contacted.
A search warrant was conducted in the 2500 block of Albert Avenue in Saskatoon. Police report seizing a .22 calibre rifle and ammunition, an 83mm barrel, a 102mm barrel, two 15-round capacity magazines, and bear spray. The 16-year-old is facing charges that include possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, importing a prohibited device to Canada, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and the investigation is ongoing.
