Former Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper says there is a tremendous outlook for agriculture in Saskatchewan.
Harper says rising incomes in developing nations is prompting strong demand for more and better food, and Saskatchewan is a world leader in agriculture.
Harper says Saskatchewan has tremendous opportunities in grain and livestock but also in secondary food processing and agricultural technology.
Harper says the challenge is to export beyond the basic raw products and move into food processing and technology.
He spoke last week in a virtual format at Canada’s farm show with Saskatchewan Trade minister Jeremy Harrison.
